Why we point you here
Forget the television persona — Chef Gordon Ramsay’s first and finest restaurant has quietly held three Michelin stars since 2001, with chef patron Matt Abé at the controls.
On a hushed corner of Royal Hospital Road in Chelsea is where the whole Gordon Ramsay story began, back in 1998 — and where it’s still at its most grown-up. The famous TV chef is rarely behind the pass these days; Chef Matt Abé runs the kitchen, turning out modern French cooking of almost unnerving consistency, including the lobster, langoustine and salmon ravioli that’s been on the menu since day one. The room is small, the decor understated, the service warm rather than starchy — proof that three-star dining doesn’t have to come with a side of intimidation. Three Michelin stars held since 2001 make this one of London’s longest-running greats.
