Stockholm
Frantzén
Why we point you here
Sweden's only three-Michelin-star restaurant, and one of the most ambitious dining rooms in the world.
Chef Björn Frantzén — a former professional footballer who turned to cooking — runs what is still the only restaurant in Sweden to hold three Michelin stars. The experience is theatrical from the doorbell: you start with drinks in a top-floor lounge while the day's ingredients are walked through, then move down to a counter facing the kitchen for a long menu that's Nordic at heart but threaded with French richness and Japanese precision. He first opened in 2008 as Frantzén/Lindeberg in the old town, closed in 2016 to rebuild bigger in a Norrmalm townhouse, and took the third star soon after reopening. He's since become the only chef on earth to hold three separate three-star restaurants, with siblings in Singapore and Dubai, and Frantzén has spent years near the top of the World's 50 Best. People fly in just for the famous French toast. A genuine pilgrimage, and worth every krona.
