Back in 2008, hotel bars were mostly where you waited for someone. The Connaught Bar showed up and made the room the destination. Agostino Perrone has been running it the whole time, and you really just come for one thing: the martini trolley pulls up to your table and they build it to order, fussing over which bitters and how dry until it's exactly yours. The room helps, all silver leaf and moody Cubist angles, but honestly it's the trolley. It's twice been crowned World's Best Bar by the World's 50 Best Bars, and it's charted on that list more than anywhere else. Get the martini. Don't overthink it.
